Man Charged With Stealing Shopping Carts
CHARLOTTE HILL, Md. (AP) -- A Maryland man has been charged with stealing shopping carts from a grocery store and trying to sell them as scrap metal.
The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office says witnesses reported the man stealing the shopping carts from a Food Lion in Charlotte Hall on Friday. They said the man, identified as Calvin Ben Jones of Leonardtown, loaded the carts into his pickup truck and drove away.
Deputies later located the man at a scrap yard business where they also found a pile containing eleven metal Food Lion shopping carts.
Jones, 60, was arrested and charged with fourth-degree burglary and theft.
