Leslie Johnson To Begin Serving Prison Term

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) -- Former Prince George's County Council member Leslie Johnson is about to begin serving a year and a day in prison for her role in obstructing an investigation into a corruption scheme involving her husband.

Johnson is scheduled to begin serving her sentence Friday. Her husband, former Prince George's County Executive Jack Johnson, began serving a seven-year prison sentence last month.

Leslie Johnson acknowledged flushing down the toilet an illicit $100,000 bribe check as FBI agents arrived at the couple's home.

She also stuffed nearly $80,000 in her undergarments.
