Dunbar Beats New Town For Third Straight 1-A Title

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) -- Evan Singletary scored 19 points as Dunbar won its third consecutive Class 1A state title.

The Poets opened a big early lead Saturday and cruised to an easy 60-36 victory over New Town

Dunbar now has won 14 state titles. That ties Allegany for the most number of team titles and gives coach Cyrus Jones his 100th
victory.

New Town finished with a 21-6 record. This was the school's second appearance in a state title game. But the Titans couldn't do
much against a Dunbar team that was quicker and played smothering defense.

The Poets forced 14 turnovers, which led to 20 points and helped Dunbar stay in command.
