Investigators Probe Pedestrian Death, Fire

CHURCHTON, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County authorities are investigating whether the death of a woman hit by an SUV is related to a fire in a camper trailer.

Police say Cheryl Ann Howes, 55, of Churchton ran into the road on Muddy Creek Road on Monday night and was hit by a Chevy Tahoe. Paramedics pronounced Howes dead at the scene.

Police say a call reporting a fire at the camper trailer was received around the same time and Howes was seen running from the
area of the camper trailer where she was staying. Investigators with the fire and police departments are trying to see if there is a connection between the two incidents and whether foul play was involved.
