State Police Stop Taking Citizen Fingerprints

PIKESVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police will temporarily stop providing fingerprinting services to residents who need them for jobs or background checks.

The service will be suspended March 19 at state police barracks because the FBI will no longer accept paper fingerprint cards. All fingerprints submitted to the FBI must be taken electronically.

Maryland State Police are converting to electronic fingerprinting, but the process will take several months.

People in need fingerprints can find a list of electronic sites at www.dpscs.maryland.gov.
