2 Killed, 1 Hurt In 2-Vehicle Crash In Silver Spring

SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County Police say two people were killed and a man was injured when a car crossed the center of a road and collided with a tow truck.

It happened about 12:30 p.m. Thursday on Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring. Police say a car driven by Olin Dale Soreson, 26, was traveling east when it crossed the center of the road and hit a tow truck traveling west.

The passenger in Soreson's car, a 23-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Soreson died at a Washington hospital.

The tow truck driver, 51-year-old Melesio Monterroza Cartagena of Silver Spring, was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation.
