Loyola Greyhounds Lose To Ohio State 59-78 In NCAA East Regional

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Watching and waiting. A small Baltimore university takes on a national powerhouse in front of basketball fans from across the country. The Loyola Greyhounds got their chance at the Big Dance.

Kai Jackson has been on the edge of his seat with fans all night.

The Greyhounds competed in the NCAA Tournament and they were anxious to show off their big moves.

It was raw emotion for students as Loyola University of Maryland battled the mighty Buckeyes of Ohio State.

"We got them where we want them and it's just an honor to be here. I think we got this," one student said during the game.

Students filled the room in McGuire Hall to watch their 15th-seeded team play the No. 2-seeded Ohio State Thursday night in the second round of the East Regional in Pittsburgh.

Students say win or lose, they're just happy the Greyhounds are in the tournament. But make no mistake about it-- like the team, they want to win.

"It's amazing. First time since 1994, second time in school history, happening in my senior year. I couldn't have asked for a better way to end it," another Loyola student said.

Loyola lost the game, but coach Jimmy Patsos said he believes his team's athleticism and speed was an asset.
