Metro Debuts New Map For Train Service

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Metro has a new map.

The transit agency unveiled the updated map Monday ahead of changes to train service that Metro is calling Rush+. Under the changes, which begin June 18,  17 stations will get more frequent service during peak hours, with six additional trains every hour.

The new map shortens some train station names and includes a dashed line where the new silver line will be when it starts service. The first phase of the new line is expected to be completed next year.

The new map is the work of New York designer Lance Wyman, who led the effort to create the original Metro map.
