WEATHER BLOG: Beautiful Weekend

High pressure is in control across the region right through Friday. There will be plenty of sunshine Thursday and Friday. It will be a bit warmer each day as strong April sunshine moderates this cool and dry airmass. It's still chilly at night, maybe a few degrees warmer as the airmass is slightly warmer.

This area of high pressure moves offshore Saturday morning. Thus, the winds take on a southerly component to them. With this wind direction comes warmer air. Temperatures will surpass 70 in most areas with a few clouds mixing in with the sunshine.

Southerly flow on the backside of this surface area of high pressure will continue through the extended period. Thus temperatures should jump well above normal with plenty of sunshine. Temperatures in the 80s Sunday through Tuesday are likely. We will be watching a backdoor front Monday but it should stay to our north and not really affect the area.

A cold front will be approaching from the west Tuesday but we think the strong ridge should hold the front at bay. We will likely see some showers and thunderstorms Tuesday night and/or Wednesday.
