Woman Killed, 3 Injured In Hagerstown House Fire

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Officials say a woman was killed and three of her family members, including a 3-year-old, were injured in a house fire in Hagerstown.

The fire broke out in a house on Summit Avenue on Wednesday afternoon. The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports that officials said late Wednesday that a woman's body was recovered inside a third-floor apartment where she had lived with her family.

City spokeswoman Erin Wolfe says a man in his 40s and the young girl were taken to a hospital for treatment. Wolfe says the man suffered severe burns and the girl was being treated for smoke inhalation. She says a 65-year-old man was hospitalized for burns to his back and smoke inhalation.

One firefighter also suffered smoke inhalation and was expected to be treated and released.
