Tanger Puts $3M Into Ocean City Outlet Renovations

WEST OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) -- Tanger Outlets is nearing completion of a $3 million cosmetic renovation project at the Ocean City Factory Outlets.

The changes include new roofs, a colorful paint job and wrapping support poles with ornate brick and siding. Carl Close, head of Tanger Outlet's construction division, tells The Daily Times of Salisbury that the renovation project is expected to be done May 23.

The work will bring the appearance of the outlet center in line with Tanger's Rehoboth Beach, Del., shopping centers.

Tanger said in July that it was acquiring the West Ocean City outlets from The Cordish Company, based in Baltimore. The 200,000-square-foot property has about 40 retailers and eateries, and Close says there may be several new tenants.
