Md. Installs Crosswalk Warnings At Deep Creek Lake

MCHENRY, Md. (AP) -- The Maryland State Highway Administration is making it safer for pedestrians to cross a busy highway at Deep Creek Lake in far western Maryland.

The agency said Thursday that Memorial Day weekend visitors will find flashing crosswalk warning signs along U.S. 219 at Quarry Road and Trader's Landing near McHenry.

Pedestrians wishing to cross must push a button to activate the warning lights.

The agency says the crossings are heavily used during the summer by people trying to reach lakeside parking lots, shops and restaurants.
