University Of Maryland President In Asia

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) -- The University of Maryland says President Wallace Loh is in Asia. The university says Loh is visiting South Korea and Taiwan to lay the groundwork for new research and educational partnerships.

School officials say Loh is scheduled to meet Monday with Taiwan's President Ma Ying-jeou. The university
says the Taiwanese president once served as a research consultant at the University of Maryland's School of Law.

The trip is the third to the region for Loh. Since taking office in 2010, Loh has also visited China and India. The university president plans to spend nine days in Asia.
