Decades In Prison For Md. Couple Who Held Hostage

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A Maryland couple will spend decades in prison after keeping a 22-year-old woman locked in a bathroom in their Reisterstown apartment for nearly nine months.

A Baltimore County Circuit Court judge on Tuesday sentenced Germaine A. Smith-Bey, 31, to 50 years in prison for false imprisonment, assault and attempted rape. His girlfriend, Kimberly Stacy King, 39, was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Police said the victim moved in with the couple and King's children but that the couple later turned on her. The couple collected their victim's monthly disability checks while holding her. When she was dropped her off at a hospital in 2010 she weighed 86 pounds and had multiple injuries.
