Baltimore Grand Prix To Start Building Racetrack

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Organizers of the Grand Prix of Baltimore plan to start constructing the event's racetrack on July 30.

The Daily Record of Baltimore reports the 12-turn, two-mile circuit will be built in 32 days, with crews working through the night.

Tony Cotman is president of the Indianapolis-based race circuit design and event management company that is handling the construction. Cotman says about a dozen people will work on the circuit from about 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Most of the work will take place in the 22 days before the event, which is scheduled to run from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.
