Green Line Metro Train Derails; No One Hurt

HYATTSVILLE, Md. (AP/WJZ) -- Metro officials say a Green Line train has derailed in Prince George's County. No one was injured, and all 55 passengers have been safely removed from the train.

In the blistering heat, the passengers had to walk to an emergency exit tunnel to get off the tracks. One pregnant woman was taken to an area hospital as a precaution.

It happened about 4:45 p.m. as the train approached the West Hyattsville station. The last three cars of the train derailed.

Fire officials helped the passengers get off the train.

Metro says Green Line service is suspended between Fort Totten and Prince George's Plaza. Shuttle buses will be used.
