The Orioles recently signed Henry Urrutia, from Cuba to play outfielder. Urrutia played for the Cuban National team.

"It's kind of an interesting signing for the Orioles. He's raw though. We're talking Double A kind of deal," Connolly said.

With the deadline to sign first rounder Kevin Gausman fast approaching Connolly still thinks the deal will get done, despite Gausman's recent comments about wanting to return to LSU.

"The man was taken 4th pick overall which means he's getting roughly 4.2 million dollars. That's a lot to trade in for Tiger Pride. I would still assume it gets done. I would still put money on the fact that Kevin Gausman an Oriole by 5 pm Friday," he said.

Connolly also said there are many things that need to happen in order for the Orioles to make the playoffs in the fall.

"Basically the bottom line is the starting pitching has to get better. Adam Jones has to continue what he's doing. [Jason] Hammel and [Wei-Yin] Chen have to be at least similar to what they were. There's a long way to go. It would be wonderful to get there and holding onto the wildcard spot," he said.
