Cordish Meets With House Speaker On Gambling

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- The owner of Maryland's largest casino has met with House Speaker Michael Busch to discuss the potential expansion of gambling in the state.

David Cordish, owner of the Cordish Cos., met for about two hours with the speaker. Joseph Weinberg, president of the company, also attended the meeting.

Cordish declined to comment about what was discussed. Weinberg says they reasserted their opposition to allowing a casino in Prince George's County. Cordish contends it would hurt business at its casino in Anne Arundel County.

Gov. Martin O'Malley wants to hold a special session this summer to address gambling expansion, including the new casino site and table games like blackjack. The O'Malley administration is expected to release a draft of a bill for lawmakers to review this week.
