Frederick Co. To Issue $100 Property Tax Rebates

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Frederick County homeowners will be getting some property tax relief this year.

The Frederick News-Post reports that commissioners approved an ordinance Thursday to refund $6.7 million in surplus revenue by sending $100 to each homeowner.

Commissioner David Gray has criticized the plan, saying it's a form of politicking by Republican board president and gubernatorial hopeful Blaine Young.

Young said Thursday that board members were making good on their promises, such as easing the tax burden on local residents.

The checks will likely arrive in homeowners' mailboxes in September.
