2 Groups Argue Against Casino License For Caesars

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Two groups say the bidding process for a casino license in Baltimore should be reopened now that lawmakers have paved the way for the casino to have more gambling options and lower taxes than under the previous bidding.

Baltimore City Entertainment Group and Harborwest Partners LLC filed appeals with the Maryland State Board of Contract Appeals last month.

A state commission already has awarded a license to Caesars Entertainment for the planned casino in Baltimore. Like other casinos in Maryland, the facility can only have slot machines.

Last week, lawmakers passed legislation to allow table games such as blackjack if voters approve it in November. Tax rates also were changed in the legislation.
