CSX Coal Pier Shut Down After Being Hit By Ship

BALTIMORE (AP) -- CSX Corp. is assessing damage caused to a coal pier that was hit by a ship last week in Baltimore.

The Baltimore Sun reports that the company estimates in a federal lawsuit that the crash caused more than $5 million in property damage and lost revenue.

The Bayside Coal Pier in Curtis Bay was hit by a tanker on Saturday. The tanker, the Wawasan Ruby, is owned by Panama-based Trio Happiness S.A.

CSX says in a statement it is evaluating repair requirements. The company has not specified how long repairs could take.
