Man Found Guilty In The Rape & Assault Of A 13-Year-Old Girl

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- A Baltimore Circuit Court jury has found a man guilty in the rape and assault of a 13-year-old girl.

The City State's Attorney's office said that Marcus Lynch was at a store in the 800-block of North Curley Street when the victim and her brother arrived on an errand for their mother. An argument ensued between the victim and Lynch's niece that turned physical. Lynch separated the victim and his niece, after which the victim went looking for her brother who had left the store.

Lynch grabbed the victim and dragged her to Frank C. Bocek Park near Madison and Jefferson streets. At the park, Lynch put his hand over the victim's mouth and threatened to kill her if she screamed, and then proceeded to rape and strangle her. The victim hit Lynch during the attack and screamed, alerting a passerby. Lynch fled as the passerby approached the scene.

Lynch has been convicted of second-degree rape, third-degree sex offense, second-degree assault and kidnapping. He faces a maximum sentence of 70 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 30.
