More Than 50 Cars Broken Into, Vandalized

HAMPSTEAD, Md. (AP) -- The Carroll County Sheriff's Office says more than 50 vehicles were broken into or vandalized in a Hampstead neighborhood.

Deputies say more than $1,300 in portable electronics, change, jewelry and other property were taken from cars parked in driveways early Sunday.

The Carroll County Times reports that one car's tires were slashed and a convertible roof was cut. Four vehicles were pushed from the driveway; one traveled across the street and hit a tree. Damage for all vehicles was more than $6,000.
