3 Charged In Kidnapping For Ransom, Murder In 2009

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Baltimore police say three people have been charged in the kidnapping and slaying of a man whose body was found in the Patapsco River.

Sherrell Ferguson, 31, was arrested recently and charged with murder, kidnapping, extortion and other offenses in the death of  Eric Pendergrass.

Police have obtained warrants charging Darryl Nichols, 37, and Donta Vaughn, 36, with murder in the case. Both are held in federal prison.

Pendergrass, 26, was kidnapped on Feb. 1, 2009. He called his girlfriend to get money and she gave it to a woman who picked it up at the home of Pendergrass' mother.

Pendergrass' body was found eight days later, wrapped in a blanket and floating in the Patapsco.

According to court records, Pendergrass had a history of drug, weapons and burglary charges.
