Ocean City Approves Skateboarding On Boardwalk

OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) -- The Ocean City Town Council has decided to allow off-season skateboarding on the boardwalk.

The Daily Times of Salisbury reports that officials voted Monday to overturn a 1972 ban on skateboarding on the boardwalk. However, skateboarding tricks and grinds off benches will not be allowed.

It will also still be prohibited to skateboard in Ocean City from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Councilmember Doug Cymek says young kids as well as people in the 20s and 30s had asked for the law to be changed.
