Board Approves $205M Contract For Train
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- The Maryland Board of Public Works has approved a $205 million contract with a Canadian-based company to run two MARC commuter train lines.
The board voted 3-0 for the contact on Wednesday with Bombardier Transportation Services to run the Camden and Brunswick lines.
Treasurer Nancy Kopp, one of the three board members, asked the company to explain contracts it has in Iran.
Tom Martin, president of Bombardier Transportation Services USA Corp., says the company is no longer pursuing contracts in Iran. He says the company has five small contracts to provide parts for transit vehicles that are expected to be concluded in the next few years.
He says none of the contracts violate laws relating to doing business with Iran due to international concern about the development of nuclear weapons.
