Anne Arundel County Police Officer Under Investigation Suspended

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County police say a captain who is the focus of a probe by state prosecutors has been suspended.

Chief Larry Tolliver told The Capital of Annapolis Thursday that Capt. Eric Hodge was placed on suspension Wednesday in relation to an investigation by the state prosecutors. Hodge has not been charged.

Tolliver declined to give details on the suspension or the probe. But he said the suspension was not related to an earlier internal investigation.

Internal investigators reported that they could not prove or disprove a complaint that Hodge had perjured himself in affidavits filed in a lawsuit against the county by a former employee.

Hodge is a 16-year veteran of the force.
