Gallaudet Asks Gay Marriage Opponents To Pull Ad

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Gallaudet University is asking a coalition opposed to same-sex marriage to stop airing a television ad that features a staff member who was suspended for signing a referendum petition.

Katherine Murphy, the school's executive director of communications and public relations, tells The Baltimore Sun that the video the Maryland Marriage Alliance is using is copyrighted by the university. Murphy says the school is in touch with its attorneys to ask the group to take down the ad.

Deana Bass, a spokeswoman for the alliance, says the group hasn't heard any formal complaints about the ad and doesn't plan to remove it.

The video shows footage of Angela McCaskill, chief diversity officer at the District of Columbia school, who was put on administrative leave last week.
