O'Malley, Ehrlich Aides Unite On Debt Reduction

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Former aides to current Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley and former Republican Gov. Robert Ehrlich are joining forces to try to reduce the federal debt.

The Washington Post reported Sunday that Michael R. Enright, a former O'Malley chief of staff, and Chip DiPaula Jr., a former Ehrlich chief of staff and budget secretary, will be members of the Maryland Campaign to Fix the Debt.

Others on the steering committee include former Rep. Wayne Gilchrest (R-Md.) and former Rep. Tom McMillen (D-Md.), who ran against each other in 1992.

DiPaula says no other issue is as urgent or important to the country. The former Ehrlich chief of staff says now that the elections are over it's time for Washington to work together to create solutions.
