KENSINGTON, Md. (AP) -- Maryland state police have identified the two people who were killed in a Christmas Eve crash on the Capital Beltway involving three vehicles.
Police say 30-year-old Jasmine Fajemisin and 25-year-old Anthony Benlizar, both of Silver Spring, died at the scene. A third person, 72-year-old Florentina Gonzalez, also of Silver Spring, was injured. She was being treated for her injuries Sunday at Inova Fairfax Hospital.
Police say the crash remains under investigation. The crash occurred around 7:40 p.m. Monday when a driver lost control of a car on the outer loop of the Beltway near Connecticut Avenue. The car skidded and was hit by two pickup trucks. Police have not identified the driver of the car that lost control. Charges are pending against that person, who remains hospitalized.
