Teen Dead After Being Hit By Cars In D.C.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A 16-year-old has died after being hit by a car in northwest Washington, and police are asking for the public's help in locating a vehicle involved in the crash.

The Metropolitan Police Department said the girl died Saturday at about 2:15 p.m. The girl, who police said was from northwest Washington, was struck Friday around 6 p.m. at the intersection of First Street and New York Avenue NW.

Police say the accident happened when a 2003 Pontiac Bonnerville that had a green light hit the girl who was crossing outside of a crosswalk. A tan sport utility vehicle with D.C. registration then hit the girl. The Pontiac remained on the scene but the SUV did not stop.

Police did not release the teen's name.
