Officer Acquitted Of Assaulting 13-Year-Old

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- A Prince George's County police officer accused of attacking a 13-year-old boy during a foot chase has been acquitted of all charges.

A judge acquitted Cpl. Rickie Adey on Thursday.

Prosecutors had alleged that on Aug. 4, 2011, Adey was called to Capitol Heights for the sound of gunshots and found a group of people running away.

Prosecutors claimed that Adey confronted a 13-year-old who was trying to climb over a fence. The officer was accused of pulling the teen down and punching him.

Adey has been assigned to administrative during since his indictment.
