Parts Of 2 Metro Lines To Close For Weekend Work

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Metro says portions of the blue and orange line will be closed this weekend, and some train riders will have to take buses.

Metro says that beginning Friday at 10 p.m. free shuttle buses will replace orange line trains between Federal Center SW and Cheverly. Six stations will be closed. Metro customers can use express buses that make no stops at the closed stations or local buses that stop at the stations. Express bus riders should add 20 minutes to their travel times. Passengers using the local bus should add an hour to their travel times.

Buses will also replace trains on the blue line between Federal Center SW and Benning Road. Customers using a shuttle bus to travel through the work zone should add 45 minutes to their commute.
