Wagner Tops Mount St. Mary's 74-65 In NEC Action

NEW YORK (AP) -- Jonathon Williams scored 19 points and Wagner turned a double-digit halftime lead into a 74-65 victory over Mount St. Mary's Wednesday night in Northeast Conference play.

The Seahawks (13-9, 7-4), who edged the Mountaineers 52-50 on Jan. 24, took a 38-26 halftime lead this time. Mount St. Mary's (9-13, 4-7) outscored Wagner 39-36 in the second half, but it wasn't enough.

Williams, who just missed a double-double with nine rebounds, got help from Latif Rivers, who scored 17 points. Josh Thompson chipped in 10.

For the Mountaineers, Rashad Whack scored 19 points, 15 coming on his 5-of-12 shooting from 3-point range. Kelvin Parker came off the bench to contribute 15 points and Shivaughn Wiggins added 11. But it wasn't enough, not with Wagner dominating inside.

The Seahawks outscored Mount St. Mary's 42-16 in the paint. They hit 21 of 27 foul shots, the Mountaineers 10 of 14.
