Harford Co. School Employee Charged With Having Sex With Student, 15

PYLESVILLE, Md. (WJZ) — A teacher assistant in Harford County is charged with having sex with a minor and faces prison time. The victim is one of her students.

Rochelle Ritchie has more.

The victim is a 15-year-old sophomore at North Harford High School. The teacher assistant who admits to having sex with him is a 35-year-old woman.

Charging documents out of Harford County give explicit detail into the sexual relationship between Amanda Miller, 35, and a 15-year-old boy at North Harford High School.

According to investigators, Miller admitted to having a sexual relationship with the student which involved intercourse and oral sex.

Charging documents show the misconduct started in December last year and involved a number of nude pictures and text messages being sent between Miller and the victim.

"They took her into custody at North Harford High School and subsequently charged her with both third and fourth-degree sex offenses, as well as sexual abuse of a minor," an officer said.

Parents hearing of the news for the first time from WJZ were disgusted.

"I'm very upset about it. I'm trying to teach my kids what's right and wrong, and you got teachers doing this kind of stuff," one man said.

Students who knew Miller say nothing about her seemed to draw concern.

"Just a nice lady, fun to be around. She got along with the kids just fine," one male student said.

Investigators say Miller admitted to taking the student home and having sex with him in her car right in his driveway.

WJZ stopped at Miller's home to ask her about the charges against her. No one answered.

Students at North Harford High School remain in disbelief.

"I just want our school to be safe," one female student said.

Miller was booked into the Harford County Detention Center where she was later released after posting a $50,000 bond.
