HILLCREST HEIGHTS, Md. (AP) — Police say a high school freshman shot to death near his Hillcrest Heights home was killed over a pair of shoes.

Prince George’s County police chief Mark Magaw says robbery was the motive for Monday’s slaying of 15-year-old Charles Walker Jr., a freshman at Suitland High School.
