No. 9 Maryland Cruises Past Wake Forest 88-61

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) -- Tianna Hawkins scored 18 points, Alyssa Thomas added 16, and No. 9 Maryland defeated Wake Forest 88-61 Sunday to snap its first losing streak of the season.

Coming off losses to Top 25 foes Duke and Florida State, the Terrapins (23-6, 14-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) led 38-22 at halftime and coasted to their 14th straight victory over the Demon Deacons (12-18, 5-13).

Maryland will receive a first-round bye in the ACC tournament, which gets under way Thursday. The Terrapins, who won the event last year, will be seeded either second or third.

Playing in her final regular-season home game, Hawkins grabbed 11 rebounds for her 13th double-double of the season and 37th of her career. The 6-foot-3 senior forward leads the ACC in scoring and ranks second in rebounding.
