Perry Hall High School Awarded Federal Grant After Shooting

PERRY HALL, Md. (AP) -- A Baltimore County high school where a student was shot has received a $35,000 federal grant.

The U.S. Department of Education announced the grant Thursday to Perry Hall High School, where one student shot another on the first day of classes last August.

The Project School Emergency Response to Violence grant is intended to help the school in its recovery process.

Robert Gladden Jr. was sentenced last month to 35 years in prison. He pleaded guilty to attempted murder for shooting Daniel Borowy in the back inside the school cafeteria.

Borowy, who has Down syndrome, missed more than two months of school while recuperating from his injuries.
