National Cathedral Hosts Gun Violence Discussions

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A weekend of conversations on the impact of gun violence is kicking off at the National Cathedral.

The National Gun Violence Sabbath opens Thursday evening with a panel discussion that's scheduled to include Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak and D.C. assistant police chief Patrick Burke.

The Cathedral will be open to visitors Friday for prayers and private reflection. Additional panel discussions and forums will continue throughout the weekend, with participants including U.S. Representative Chris Van Hollen of Maryland.

National Cathedral Dean Gary Hall is scheduled to deliver a Sunday sermon on the topic of gun violence.
