Baltimore Blast Back In The Championship
Thursday night in Independence, Missouri the Baltimore Blast played the Missouri Comets in Game 1 of the MISL Championship Series.
The game started out quick with a goal by Tony Donatelli of the Blast in the first 27 seconds. Missouri held close and answered Baltimore's goal. It was looking like it was going to be a close game until Baltimore took the reigns, scoring 6 consecutive goals to take a 12 point lead at the half.
Their commanding 14-2 lead must have slowed them down because the Comets rallyed to come back, making it a 16-8 game. Seeing their lead shrinking, the Blast defense held firm for the rest of the 3rd quarter.
The 4th quarter saw a few exchanging goals but the Blast managed to pull back to a 10 point lead. Missouri pulled their keeper in a last ditch effort to come back but in their desperation Donatelli was able to complete his hat trick, scoring a 3 point goal with 25 seconds on the clock, on an empty net to seal the Blast's 21-12 victory.
With this victory the Blast move on to Game 2 of the MISL Championship Series. The game is set for Saturday night at 7:35 p.m. ET at Baltimore's 1 Mariner Arena. If the Blast pull of a victory Saturday night it will be their 7th MISL Championship.
