SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) — Four people have been rescued from an apartment building fire in Silver Spring, and one is in critical condition.

Authorities say the fire broke out Tuesday morning at the Montgomery Towers Apartments. Four people were taken to hospitals. One is critical but stable condition.

The fire apparently started on the sixth floor of the building. Investigators are looking into whether there were any working smoke alarms in the apartment.
