Grace Period To End For Annapolis Speed Cameras
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Annapolis police have a message for speeders caught on camera: no more freebies.
The month-long grace period for speed cameras in the state capital ends Monday. Police say drivers caught going 12 mph over the posted speed limit will incur $40 fines. Speeders will get tickets in the mail.
Maj. Scott Baker is the speed camera program director. He tells The Capital of Annapolis that the city has issued more than 300 warnings since March 5.
The city has three cameras, one fixed and two mounted inside Fort Escape sport-utility vehicles. They will target speeders in school zones, and they'll only take pictures on weekdays between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. All the potential camera locations are noted with signs.
