Capital Bikeshare Breaks Daily Ride Record Again

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Capital Bikeshare says it has broken its daily ride record again.

The bike-sharing service says 11,368 rides were booked on Saturday. Capital Bikeshare tweeted on Tuesday that it had set a one-day record with 9,854 rides.

The bike-sharing system serves the district, Arlington and Alexandria and has about 175 stations, but has struggled to keep up with demand at times. District officials said in December that the service had not been able to get equipment from a supplier for a planned expansion.

The service recently announced eight new stations in Alexandria and now has more than 1,600 bicycles.
