O'Malley: Denmark Conference Focused On Jobs

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Gov. Martin O'Malley says creating jobs through innovative technology was a main focus at a conference in Denmark on progressive governing.

O'Malley spoke about the conference in an interview Monday.

The Democratic governor says austerity doesn't grow the economy. He says while cuts are important economies can't grow without investments.

Topics also included how to grow the middle class.

O'Malley says he was invited to the conference by the Center For American Progress. Its chairman is John Podesta, who served as chief of staff under former President Bill Clinton.

The conference was organized by Policy, network and Global Progress. It was hosted by Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt.
