Md. Man Charged With Threatening A Bombing Similar To The Boston Marathon Blasts

FERNDALE, Md. (AP) -- A Maryland man has been charged with calling 911 and threatening a bombing similar to the blasts at the Boston Marathon.

Anne Arundel County police say Ronald Smith, 59, called 911 and said, "I'm from Boston and I'm going to blow some more stuff up," before hanging up. The call came in early Wednesday afternoon.

Officers were sent to the home in Ferndale where the call was made from. Police say Smith admitted placing the call and that the threat was a hoax. Police searched the home and another residence in Baltimore and found no evidence of weapons or bomb-making materials.

Smith has been charged with false statement of a destructive device, telephone misuse and arson threats.

It wasn't immediately clear whether he had an attorney.
