73-Year-Old Woman Rescued From DC Metro Tracks

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Metro transit officials say fellow riders rescued a 73-year-old woman who had fallen onto the tracks at a subway stop.

Metro spokesman Dan Stessel says the woman fell on the tracks about 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Dupont Circle station. The spokesman told The Washington Post that it is not clear how the woman fell onto the tracks, but she was helped by fellow riders. Metro says the unidentified woman was taken to George Washington University Hospital with a non-life threatening head injury.

Stessel says a train was not in the immediate area when the woman fell and Red Line service was not affected.
