Mfume To Lead Morgan State University Board
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Morgan State University's Board of Regents has elected Kweisi Mfume to lead the board.
Mfume will take over as board chairman on July 1. Mfume, an honors graduate of Morgan, served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1987 to 1996 and as a member of the Baltimore City Council. Mfume was also the president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People from 1996 to 2004.
Mfume will take over from interim chair Martin Resnick. The board voted to remove former chairman Dallas Evans in February after a dispute about the contract of Morgan's president.
