Smoke Forces Evacuation Of White House Press Room

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Reporters and photographers were evacuated early Saturday from the White House press room because of smoke.

The journalists were sent outside shortly after 7 a.m. while firefighters inspected the West Wing. They were allowed back into the building about an hour later.

White House press officials did not immediately respond to calls and emails and the source of the smoke was unclear.
