Duke Claims 2OT Win Over Loyola (Md), 12-11

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) -- Case Matheis scored with 1:40 left in the second overtime to help Duke beat Loyola (Md.) 12-11 on Sunday in the first round of the NCAA men's lacrosse tournament.

Matheis finished with three goals while Josh Dionne had two goals and an assist and Jordan Wolf scored two goals for the seventh-seeded Blue Devils (13-5).

They will face second-seeded Notre Dame on May 19 in the quarterfinals.

Zach Herreweyers had three goals, Matt Sawyer had two goals and an assist and Justin Ward had five assists for the defending national champion Greyhounds (11-5). They led 7-2 late in the second period before Duke rallied.

Matheis forced overtime when he scored with 1:05 remaining.
