Allegany County Looks To Revise Tattoo Rules

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- Maryland's Allegany County is looking to update its regulations governing tattoo shops, making changes that would let the shops tattoo kids with the permission of their parents.

The Cumberland Times-News reports county health officials are looking to make the changes, which would have to be adopted by county commissioners. The paper says kids sometimes get tattoos from friends or illegitimate shops and then parents hope to fix the tattoos by having a legitimate shop correct them.

The last update of the regulations was in 1991. The changes could also update the regulations to include rules on body piercings. The piercings are not currently regulated.
